An Arizona Nonprofit Organization

Our Mission

Semicolon Society provides free mental health education, events, resources, and presentations to the community, with an emphasis on suicide prevention and support. By providing direct discussions and resources about mental health, Semicolon Society seeks to reduce the stigma in having critical conversations, increase awareness and understanding of mental health challenges, and reduce suicide in our community.

What We Do

  • Organize events that build community connection, support, and understanding to increase mental wellness and reduce suicide.
  • Provide free presentations, discussions, and resources related to suicide prevention and mental health.
  • Offer support following a suicide via resources, discussion, and education.

Our History

Semicolon Society was founded by Dr. Paula McCall, an Arizona licensed psychologist who is passionate about providing free information, resources, events, discussions, and supports about mental health in her community. Her combined lived experience and knowledge of suicide prevention evidence-based best practices led to the creation of a nonprofit that combines knowledge and heart to improve and save lives.

Why The Semicolon?

In grammar, the semicolon has a special role. When used, it continues a sentence rather than ending it. This role of the semicolon has become embraced by mental health advocates and lived experience survivors around the world. The semicolon reminds everyone to find the path to continuing their story.
